How does NexGard for Dogs kill ticks?

NexGard kills fleas and ticks by over-stimulating the nervous system, which results in death of the parasite.

How fast does NexGard for Dogs kill ticks?

NexGard provides effective control of pre-existing paralysis tick infestations within 24 hours. Newly acquired ticks are killed within 48 hours.

How long does NexGard for Dogs last?

NexGard provides persistent protection against fleas and ticks (paralysis ticks, brown dog ticks and bush ticks) for 35 days, ensuring protection for a full month.   See product label for full claim details and directions for use.

Is NexGard for Dogs safe for pregnant dogs?

What are the side effects of NexGard for Dogs?

Afoxolaner is part of the isoxazoline family of chemicals.  Adverse reactions to this family of chemcials and rarely observed, but may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetance, itching and very rarely, seizures.  Most adverse reactions are self-limiting and of short duration.  If you have any concerns, please speak to your veterinarians.  See product label for full claim details and directions for use.

How long does it take for NexGard for Dogs to start working?

The active ingredient in NexGard is absorbed within 6 hours, resulting in a rapid protection against fleas.  Following administration, fleas are killed within 8 hours.  See product label for full claim details and directions for use.

Does NexGard for Dogs need to be given with food?

Unlike some treatments, NexGard does not need to be given with food.  You can choose to give the chew to your dog any time that suits you, with or without food.  See product label for full claim details and directions for use.

Can I give NexGard for Dogs and HeartGard30 PLUS together?

NexGard protects against fleas, ticks and mites.  For protection against other parasites, such as heartworm or intestinal worms, NexGard may be included in a treatment program with HeartGard30 PLUS or ParaGard Allwormer for Dogs. See product labels for full claim details and directions for use.

Does NexGard for Dogs kill all stages of fleas?

NexGard kills adult fleas rapidly before they can lay eggs, helping to prevent infestation of the environment.  Regular monthly treatment is recommended to keep your pet and home flea free.

Can my dog still get fleas with NexGard for Dogs?

Dogs become infested with fleas from environmental infestation sites in the home or outdoors. NexGard rapidly kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of fleas infestations and for the control of newly acquired adult fleas.  Following administration, fleas are killed within 6-8 hours.  The rapid speed of action means adult fleas are killed before they can lay eggs, helping to prevent infestations of the environment.  Treated dogs can acquire fleas from environmental sources but these will be killed rapidly preventing a reinfestation. Regular monthly treatment is recommended to keep your pet and home flea free.
